Hark released our computer-using agent last week, called Handoff One thing I'm still shocked by how much cheaper and faster we made the model. Input got 96% cheaper, output 92% cheaper In the future, you'll have "thousands" of computers working 24/7 for you. They'll handle the everyday things you do yourself today, but also do research and think proactively on your behalf. That's why getting serving costs down has been a critical focus I'm excited about a future where computers can use computers for us
The biggest engineering mistake I made at Figure was building a tendon-based hand Our first hand design in 2022 was a tendon hand for our F.01 robot. At a high level, the tendon approach sounds appealing, which is why I chose it: you get more space for packaging actuators since the forearm is larger, potentially higher degrees of freedom, and it's biologically inspired We built and manufactured this entire hand and tested it in early 2023. If you saw it in person, it was truly an engineering work of art. It turned out to be one of the worst engineering decisions I've made, maybe the worst in four years. Tendons are a complete local maximum, and that only becomes clear in hindsight, after exploring every other possible hand design. Figure is unique in that we've now built and tested several hand architectures, which gave us a clear sense of where to head Figure is working on our next generation hand, and it's so much better than anything you can do with tendons, it's not even funny

I've started using Hark Handoff for scaling our recruiting efforts It takes a new recruiter about 30 days to make a hire from a cold start. This makes the problem really difficult for autonomous computers, as they need to operate over a month-long time horizon Recruiting is also uniquely hard because it requires constant real-world interaction, human feedback cycles, and there's almost no verifiable reward signal for hiring humans well Handoff is connected to all our systems and becoming our digital recruiting assistant. We're building toward a future where computers use computers for you We started with the internet, where ~75% of global computer use happens - and where fewer than 1 in 1,000 websites have a public API. The only way in is the human way: see the screen, target exact x and y coordinates, click, type, scroll. No API or MCP gets you there. The long-term goal is a general-purpose human emulator - one that reaches parity with a human at a computer, then surpasses it. This is a video from our all-hands, it's a rare look behind the scenes of the early bringup of F.03 F.01, F.02, and F.03 were all designed and walking within a year of each other. The pace of progress is mind-blowing, especially considering each robot was a new architecture, with a ground-up hardware and software redesign We haven't slowed down. We're now through the final major design cycle for F.04. This will be the biggest leap we've made between robot generations since we started

I’ll try and compress 20 years of experience into 30 seconds Startups have a GREAT FILTER that kills almost everyone. It’s there to weed out the people who aren’t meant to build companies The good news is it can be beaten - even with little or no capital. Once you beat it, you can do it again. You can choose to stay at the current level or attempt to level up The level boss is always the same: if you quit, you fail I can’t stress this enough: almost every skill can be learned. Never stop improving. You can acquire new skills, hire better people, change the product, pivot the strategy, or rethink your assumptions You’ll hit the wall. Most will quit. But just keep going If something isn’t working, change course. Change your vector: reassess your hypothesis, measure the results, and keep iterating Also working hard compounds. The more quality work you can put in, the better your odds. There is no balance Almost nobody succeeds on their first attempt If you want it badly enough, you can bend the future in your direction Just start. And keep pushing
